Three types of emergency contraception in Austalia:
  • Levonorgestrel pill - take within 3 days (72hrs) of sex. Available without a prescription from pharmacies. Many brand names.
  • Ulipristal acetate (UPA) pill - take within 5 days (120hrs) of sex. Available without a prescription from pharmacies. Brand name: EllaOne
  • Copper intrauterine device (IUD) - inserted within 5 days (120hrs) of sex by a trained doctor or nurse
